The Jersey Sierran: Information for Advertisers
The Jersey Sierran is a quarterly publication of Sierra Club's New Jersey Chapter.
It is a black-and-white tabloid, printed on 100% recycled newsprint.
Frequency: Quarterly (Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter)
Circulation: The Jersey Sierran is mailed to all Sierra Club members in New Jersey.
Currently there are approximately 20,000 members. In addition, copies are
mailed to individuals in the broadcast and the print media, as well as
to the other environmental groups. Copies are also often distributed free
at shops that sell camping gear and handed out at tables set up at major events such as Earth Day Festivals and regional festivals. Since the
Sierran contains an extensive list of outings, ads are likely to be examined
by most serious outdoor enthusiasts in NJ. Please contact the Advertising

Reader profile: Sierra Club members tend to be almost equally divided between male
and female, 81% are over 35, with a median age of 46. Some 94% attended
college, with 76% now engaged in professional, managerial or technical
positions. Household income averages $79,400, with a median of $59,400.
Our members lead varied and active lives and have the knowledge and discretionary
income to purchase a wide variety of quality products and services to fulfill
their needs. Outdoor adventure and travel are integral parts of their lives.
Healthy living counts among their important concerns. Responsible lifestyles
at home are also of concern and, as leaders, they have a clear influential
impact in their community.

We no longer accept classifieds. Rates are subject to change. Setup charges are due with the first
placement. Any change to the advertisement subsequent to the initial
(first) insertion will retrigger the setup charge.
At our discretion, non-profits with missions similar to
ours are eligible for deeply discounted pro-rated full page
rates of $750 for the full page, $375 for 1/2 page, $250 for
1/3rd page, $188 for 1/4 page, $125 for 1/6 page, $94 for
1/8 page, $63 for 1/12 page and $40 for a minimum-display
advertisement.
Submission Format: The Jersey Sierran accepts ad materials in the following formats:

scannable camera-ready art mailed to the Advertising Manager at the address
below

electronic TIFF, EPS or Quark files. For EPS or Quark files,
all supporting art and fonts must be included. A PDF file
with at least 200dpi resolution works the best. You may
email the files to the Advertising Manager at the email
address below.

Placement and Editorial Policy: Placement requests will be honored wherever possible, but space limitations
and layout considerations make placement guarantees impossible. Sierra
Club reserves the right to reject or amend without notice advertisements
deemed inconsistent with or damaging to its mission. Sierra Club's liability
in the event of non-insertion, mis-timed insertions or any other contract
violations is limited to the refund for the advertisement/s under consideration.
Please do not mention "Sierra Club" in your advertisement unless you
have obtained the requisite copyright permission.
Terms of Payment: Full payment including the setup charge for the first
insertion is due with the transmission of ad materials. Payment for subsequent
insertions are due at the "Materials due" dates as above. Please make checks
payable to the Sierra Club and mail them to the address below. The tear
sheet displaying the ad will be supplied free of charge, but only upon request
(preferably by email) made after the issue has been published.
