Activity Report
January 2005

  • 5-Acre lot in West Orange:
City Council is currently in litigation to condemn property in order to aquire it for open space. Tract contains a small stream and steep slopes in a forested area similar in look to the Seton Hall Prep site.

  • Seton Hall Prep Site:
Essex County group is planning a general meeting featuring Bruce Kersher at the West Orange Library.

  • Essex County Environment Center:
Ron Pate from the singles section and Dave Ogens (conservation co-chair) and I will meet with the County to discuss a Partnership with helping them out with outings (Hikes and Canoe trips) at the Environmental Center

  • Passaic River Project:
Representatives from the county and experts in the history of the Passaic River had their first meeting. Looks very promising that a display/exhibit will be extraordinary.

  • Hill Top Access:
The developer was denied permission by the Cedar Grove Planning Board to build a retaining wall at one of the public accesses to the Hill Top Reservation.

  • Essex County Energy Audit:
County is considering implementing the energy audit program in an effort to keep energy costs down.
