Activity Report November 2003
- SHOP-RITE:
Rocky Swingle attended a School Board Meeting to alert the nearby school of potential traffic problems. There will be a Planning Board meeting on December 11.
- HAMILTON SHRIMP FARM:
Bonnie is concerned about a shrimp farm's potential waste discharge and use of farmland preservation funds for an indoor operation. She will post the question on the ConsComm listserv and do some research into the discharge situation. There is also an indoor orchid farm near the shrimp farm.
- WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP NEW TOWN CENTER SOCCER FIELDS:
The New Town Center plans included a parcel of open space that's largely being used for soccer fields. The open space, 90 acres, was donated to the Mercer County Parks Commission in exchange for higher-density housing. Pat reported that these fields haven't been mentioned in the public sessions; she'll ask at the next meeting (December 23). Ken will attend, too, and voice concern that more area should be left natural .
- PARKS COMMISSION MEETINGS:
Six members of the Parks Commission staff are retiring, including the Commissioner. This might be because a new County Executive is taking over in January. Applications are due at the end of the month for new Commission candidates.
