Take Action to Save Great Bear Rainforest
Six years ago, British Columbia promised to save the Great Bear Rainforest, but logging is still permitted on 50% of the land today. Science is clear that at least 70% of the natural old-growth forest needs to be off-limits to logging to save it from disappearing forever. Sierra Club B.C. is taking part in this effort. Please sign the petition to prevent further logging in this area. Save Rainforest

Washington D.C. Rally for Climate Action Day
In March, thousands took buses to Washington D.C. for this critical day of action. Alaska has proven to be ground zero for global warming. Temperatures are rising around the world, but Alaska is experiencing the most dramatic increases, and as temperatures warm, sea ice and permafrost melt, radically altering entire ecosystems. The results could be devastating to Alaska. With the loss of its primary habitat, the polar bear could become extinct by the end of the century. As wildlife becomes more scarce and hunting becomes more difficult, Alaska Native communities could lose their subsistence lifestyle and culture. And all of the public land that we love, including the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, could change beyond recognition. That’s why Alaska Wilderness League led a diverse coalition of organizations and companies in sponsoring Climate Crisis Action Day. For Alaska and for the planet, we must act now. For more information contact Julia Shaw at Julia@alaskawild.org or www.alaskacoalition.org/join_alaska_coalition.htm

Mar 15, Thu 11AM - 20s/30s Socials & Outings -- Citizen Lobby Day: To Defend RGGI & Our Clean Energy Future
Hear from legislative champs who are fighting for clean air and clean energy. Governor Christie has taken New Jersey out of the Regional Greenhouse Gas program (RGGI), squandering the state’s opportunity for over $680 million in funding for clean energy over the next 8 years! On top of this major blow to progress on clean energy, clean air and global warming, Governor Christie has already cut $700 million in clean energy funds in the last three years. On March 15th, citizens, civic, faith and environmental advocates will be coming to the State Capitol to meet with local representatives and talk to them in the hallways of the New Jersey State House. We will be urging them to oppose the Governor’s decision to take New Jersey out of the RGGI program and his repeated cuts to funding for the Clean Energy Program – programs we need to solve critical problems like air pollution and global warming.Citizen Lobby Day
