Meetings:
We had a nice presentation on Fracking for Natural Gas at our March meeting.

Please join us for our monthly TeleTownHall at 7 PM 3-May-2012
Dial: 1.866.501.6174 Passcode: 1004000#

Agenda:

1. Distinguished Guest: Jon Wiener, JD Attorney for Earthjustice, Washington, DC
earthjustice.org/

Earthjustice (a non-profit public interest law firm) is representing Sierra Club in trying to make EPA follow the Clean Air Act in setting air pollution standards for sewage sludge incinerators. Earthjustice has sued EPA over the agencyÕs failure to set standards that would require incinerators (such as the two operated by the Somerset Raritan Valley Sewerage Authority) to significantly reduce their emissions of toxic air pollutants. This source of pollution impacts us locally!

2. NJ and the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI)- Daphne Speck-Bartynski

3. Superfund site in our midst. American Cyanamid/Pfizer site: Don McBride

Eagle's nest web cam:
The 2,700 acre Duke Estate in Hillsborough has a web cam pointed at an eagle's nest for streaming video. In 2009 three chicks hatched from April 6-12. The youngest eaglet took his maiden flight on July 6.
In 2010 there are 2 chicks.

In 2010 there were two eggs. The eggs hatched the end of March.and will start to "branch," which means they'll hop from the nest to the branches of the nest tree at the end of May. The chicks are expected to fledge (Take flight) in the middle of June, but will remain in the area of the nest tree for several weeks after fledging, while they practice flight and learn to hunt.
