Opposing relicensing the aging Oyster Creek nuclear
power plant in Forked River. The plant, the nation's oldest, poses not
only environmental and health risks, but is a potential threat to national security
because of concerns of terrorist attacks on the facility.
Get the facts about Oyster
Creek and
see what you can do to help stop it's relicensing.
County and Local issues
include:
Getting
C1 status for several local waterways, including Cedar Creek and the
Toms River. !!Update!!
Working with the Lacey Rail/Trail Environmental
Committee to prevent a section of the trail in Lacey Township from
being paved over.
In Jackson Township we’ve “Drawn
a Line in the Sand” to put a halt to three major housing
projects that have the potential to add up to 6,000 new homes to the
township.
To combat this onslaught by the developers we’ve joined
forces with
PPA
(Pinelands Preservation Alliance), SBB
(Save Barnegat Bay) and
S.P.A.R.E.
(Save Protect And Respect our
Environment), a local environmental group that has opposed
Mitch Leigh’s massive Towne Centre since 2002.
Our broad environmental coalition also includes a group of
concerned homeowners from the Grawtown section of Jackson, who are
fighting to stop the building of a proposed 700 new single family homes
in their area.
Together we’re going to stop the never-ending sprawl
that’s eating up, not only Jackson Township’s, but
all of Ocean county’s remaining open space like a cancer.
We're also working together with Save Barnegat Bay on NPAP
the Nitrogen Pollution Action Project. Go to the NPAP web site
to find out more about this serious threat to the Bay and what you can
do to help.
