Legislative Committee

The New Jersey Chapter is dedicated to protecting and preserving our natural environment, including the air we breathe, the water we drink and the natural areas upon which we all depend. The Legislative Committee has a simple charter: to do whatever it takes to promote legislation at the State level that protects and preserves our natural environment and to oppose legislation that adversely affects our natural environment. The Committee generally meets on a monthly basis when the legislature is in session, but also conducts business between meetings by email. The Committee reviews all bills that are introduced in the legislature and takes positions on those bills that have an impact upon the environment. Up-to-date information on all of these bills, including the Chapter's position on each bill, is provided in bill tables that are prepared and maintained by the Committee. The Committee also identifies issues that are in need of legislation and, working with Jeff Tittel, our Chapter Director, works with like-minded legislators in promoting the introduction and passage of appropriate legislation.
