February 23 These Parks Are Your Parks

Come out and hear all about the Monmouth County Park System and its
efforts to preserve open space and provide recreation for area residents.
A representative of the MCPS will present an informative video, entitled
"A Day in the Life of Monmouth County Parks" and answer your questions
about your parks.

-- Fishing, Clamming and So Much More!
The Raritan and Sandy Hook Bays provide a livelihood for many local
residents, as
well as recreation opportunities for locals and visitors alike. Join us
as Joe Reynolds of the Bayshore Subwatershed Regional Council informs us
about this group's efforts to preserve and protect the watersheds of the
Bayshore Region, and some of the issues confronting the Council in
reaching its goals

April 26 Blowing in the Wind

Renewable energy, including wind energy, is a growing source of energy for
many in the world. Join us as Robert Link, Permit Compliance Officer of
Winergy, shares with us his company's plans for a "wind farm" off the
coast of New Jersey.

May 24 Green Night

Here is your chance to do something positive for the environment. We will
present current environmental issues -- you will write letters to elected
officials and others. We supply the pens, paper, and stamps!

June 28 Empty Seas?

Are we depleting the oceans' resources by our methods of commercial
fishing? Will enough fish survive to produce the next generation? Hear
Tom Fote, one of New Jersey's representatives on the Atlantic States
Marine Fisheries Commission, answer these and other questions about the
status of our marine fisheries.

Annual Summer Picnic, noon, Turkey Swamp County Park Join
the Jersey Shore Group for our annual picnic at Turkey Swamp Park, Georgia
Road, Freehold Township. Please bring a dish to share. And bring along
the kids and grandkids for bocce, kites, light horseshoes, & board games.

Wolf Hill Walk
Break in those hiking shoes or sneakers by taking a sunset 40 minute
stroll along the well marked trails of the Wolf Hill Recreation Area. Meet
6:30 p.m. sharp near the southern end of the Eatontown Blvd (Rt. 537).
Just a few hundred yards north of Rt. 36, go right (east) on Crescent
Place. Meet in the parking lot enclosed by a split rail fence, across from
the first entrance to St. Barnabas Health Care. (canceled if overcast or
rainy weather) After walk, drive 3 minutes to the general meeting.

September 27, Wind Energy, Part II

As a follow-up to our spring meeting at which we learned about the
proposed wind farm project off the New Jersey coast near Asbury Park, Eric
Stiles of New Jersey Audubon Society will share with us his groupâ?Ts
perspective on this form of renewable energy.

October 25, The Pinelands of New Jersey

Join us as Rich Bizub of the Pineland Preservation Alliance presents the
film, "Pine Barrens: Up Close and Natural", highlighting the ecology of
this special region, one of the last remaining wild areas in the state.
He may even have some interesting folklore about the region, including,
appropriately for this time so near Halloween, the elusive Jersey Devil

No meeting this month, but join us for a party to toast the holiday

- EX COM ELECTIONS

This fall the Jersey Shore Group will be holding an election to fill five
(5) vacancies on its Executive Committee (ExCom). On August 1, the
Nominating Committee composed of Stan Greberis, Steve Knowlton, and
Rosemary Bagwell will present its nominations. Please contact any member
if you would like to run for the Executive Committee. The name of any
Group member proposed in writing by at least fifteen Group members prior
to August 5, 2004 and who gives consent will also be included on the
ballot. Please submit petitions to the chairman of the Nominations
Committee, Stan Greberis, 143 Ely Harmony Road, Freehold, NJ 07728.
Stream Monitoring volunteers needed! Monmouth County is expanding
their stream monitoring program. If you can help, call Joe Galacki,
